MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE LEE TOWNSHIP

PLANNING COMMISSION, WHICH TOOK PLACE ON MONDAY,

MARCH 19, 2007, LEE TOWNSHIP HALL, MIDLAND, MICHIGAN

PRESENT:  Planning Commissioners – Carol Alexander, Darla Rippee, Lee Thompson, Tom York, and Dale Wolfgang

ABSENT:   None

OTHERS PRESENT:  None

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Tom York.

The purpose of this meeting was to continue review of the final draft of the proposed Lee Township Zoning Ordinance.  Discussion began with Article 7—Signs.

Review continued through Article 13—Overlay District, with several minor changes and corrections being made in the text under review.  It was noted that a graphic is missing from one section.

Tom said he has spoken with the people at Country Lounge, which is expected to be open soon.  They told Tom that a new septic system on the north side of the building necessitated using the planned parking in that area.  Without that parking, they will still meet the minimum number of spaces required.  They do plan to provide some parking to the west of the building.  Tom said the building looks good; he was impressed by all that has been done to renovate the building, and “they didn’t cut any corners.”

The Commission plans to continue the Ordinance review at its regular meeting on April 3, beginning with discussion of Article 14.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Carol Alexander

Secretary
